Exquisite Acts and Everyday Rebellions
Hi All!
I would like to invite you to check out this great series of events, lectures, performances and screenings taking place this week and next.
For schedule go to:
http://alum.calarts.edu/~feminist/exhibition.html
Here are the general goals of the organizers of the CalArts Feminist Art Project:
1)We are asking our own questions about Feminism, about being a woman, about being a person of color, about being a man, about being from a “developing nation,” about being a young artist.
2)We intend to learn from Feminist history and to claim it as our own, as part of our legacy.
3)We are empowering ourselves in our local and global communities to make our voices heard and to help other marginalized communities speak up and speak out.
4)We are experiencing collective and collaborative action and also supporting each other in our individual work.
5)We are fighting against sexism, racism, capitalism, ageism, geocentricism and all other societal forces that disempower and marginalize groups of people.
6)We are imploding the stereotypes of Feminists and Feminism and defining for ourselves what Feminism means to us (not to you or to them).
7)We are inclusive of all genders, races, nationalities and ages in our cause.

Arts funding: California Dead Last
From the California Lawyers for the Arts:
California is dead last among all fifty states in its allocation of funding for community arts
programs.

musicians and artists of all disciplines, please call or write Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger
and your representatives in the State Assembly and Senate in Sacramento to ask them to
restore funding for the California Arts Council and our State's investment in creativity.
To receive more information and to brainstorm strategies, please call our advocacy desk at
